Maryland Sweeps Minnesota, Keeps NCAA Hopes Alive

By: Aaron Robinson

Maryland defeated Minnesota 72-69 on Sunday night, to sweep the season series over the Golden Gophers. The win moves the Terps to 11-10 on the season and 5-9 in Big Ten play.

Aaron Wiggins lead the way for Maryland with 17 points and five rebounds. Senior guard, and Baltimore, Maryland Native Darryl Morsell also chipped in 13 points. But perhaps the most impactful Terp was Galin Smith who came off the bench and scored 10 points on 4-4 shooting to go along with five rebounds and four assists.

Smith also played tremendous defense on Minnesota big man Liam Robbins who entered Sunday averaging over 13 points and seven rebounds.

But on Sunday, Robbins tallied just two points and three rebounds on 1-8 shooting from the floor in just 18 minutes of action.

For everything you need to know on Sunday night's action, we've got you covered right here.

Maryland will be back in action from the XFinity Center in College Park when they host Nebraska on Tuesday and Wednesday, both games set to begin at 7p.m.
